Dr. Tom Sawa

Dr. Sawa obtained a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto majoring in Physiology and Psychology. In 1973 he enrolled in the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College graduating in 1977. He was a founding member of the College of Chiropractic Sports Science and in 1986 he became a certified sports medicine rehabilitation fellow specializing in upper extremity injury.

Dr Sawa has lectured in post graduate education and at the undergraduate level at the Chiropractic College. He has lectured all over North America on various topics to various groups, some of which included the Canadian Alpine Ski team medical group and the Canadian Olympic Archery Association. He has been the guest speaker on various radio and TV talk shows and has authored an array of medical publishing’s which included both the shoulder and knee joints. Dr Sawa achieved his Ontario level IV hockey coaching certification and is now an active hockey instructor for Hockey Ontario. Dr Sawa co-edited “The Hockey Handbook” a revised edition of The Hockey Handbook by Lloyd Percival with a contribution to the chapter on conditioning. Dr Sawa has been a member of various advisory boards and with all of this had time to invent and patent several orthopedic braces which include the DonJoy Shoulder Stabilizer ® and the Sawa GTO Groin thigh brace. Dr Sawa and his wife Ann have 2 children, Jeff a graduate of teachers College at the University of Queens Land Australia and Tim a personal trainer who is in his 3rd year at Brock University. He continues in private practice in Mississauga specializing in upper extremity injuries.

 

Mr. Issa El-Achhab - Massage Therapist (RMT)

Issa is a Registered Massage Therapist and a licensed Sports Trainer, also known as a Sports Therapist. Issa began his practice at Sawa Chiropractic and Sports Injury Clinic back in 2005 and since then has grown with Dr. Sawa and learned from his experiences.

Issa specializes in Sports Injury and Rehab, as well as focuses on Performance Training and Fitness Training. He is the Team Therapist for Team Canada Northwind of the Australian Football League and the Toronto Eagles of the Ontario Australian Football League. Issa also works at the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy, of which he graduated from, as a Clinic Supervisor and Outreach Supervisor.

Issa’s passion has always been to work with professional athletes, as well as the public, helping them recover from their injuries and get back to their original state. He does this by focusing on each patient’s needs and priorities, keeping them comfortable with his hands-on treatments, and staying enthusiastic about their recovery.
